MDW: Honey I Shrunk The Kids

Day 2 of MDW in Music City. Since I'm not familiar with much country music, we decided to adventure through the other beautiful things Nashville has to offer.

The day started off with a delicious and hearty brunch at a very modern restaurant called Tavern. The menu has a lot of the brunch basics, but with really interesting southern twists to them. It's like the traditional brunch items were transformed into completely different dishes, check out the menu for yourself, it's awesome.

First adventure, we visited Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and Museum of Art. It's a beautiful Botanical garden that is hidden among the gorgeous plantation homes. The Museum of Art is a beautiful building, it looks right out of Gatsby. It also has Japanese and Water Gardens throughout. This summer, they have an outdoor exhibit, David Rogers' Big Bugs. They are giant size bugs immaculately sculptured out of wood. These bugs fit right in!...and I definitely felt like I was on the set of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.

We then visited Bell Meade Plantation. They offer a great tour of the mansion itself, as well as open tours of the grounds. The plantation was beautiful and huge. Halfway through the tour, you can sit on the front porch of the mansion and relax under the shade while rocking in a rocking chair. Below are pictures of the mansion itself and the Slave Cabin. At the end of the tour there is a complimentary wine tasting. Who doesn't love a free wine tasting? :)

Nashville has so much wonderful history to learn. Find out more information from the links above.
