Ultimate Date Night

I was swept off my feet on the ultimate date night this weekend. Not only did I get to try some amazing food from some well known St. Louis restaurants I'd never been to before, but I also got to see a musical! Here's the recap...

Dinner began at Element Restaurant, which was featured in St. Louis' Sauce magazine as one of the best new restaurants of 2013. Element is a restaurant always in flux, their menu changes seasonally and they try new dishes constantly. We got two small plates and one large plate. Just to give you a taste of the dishes we got the Duck Ham, duck that was cured and seasoned like a ham with a corn chow chow, jalapeno and pickled fried onion, and Peruvian style braised short ribs.

Dessert was indulged at the infamous St. Louis Bailey's Chocolate Bar. They have any and everything chocolate and are well known for their chocolate martinis. We tried the Sexual Chocolate Martini which had a very spicy kick, to pair with the Lover's Plate sampler of all of their chocolate and dessert decadents. The Lover's Plate consisted of: mini bites of brownie, blondie cookies, chocolate inebriation, chocolate cheese cake, white chocolate raspberry ice cream almond cake, salted caramed ice cream, chocolate and peanut brittle covered bacon, raspberry sorbet, spicy walnuts, carmelized bananas, strawberries and candied oranges. SO MUCH GOOD STUFF! All of their desserts are to die for, and we demolished the plate of aphrodisiacs. :) #fattyproblems

Finally, the night ended at one of the famous summer events in St. Louis, Musicals at the Muny in Forest Park. One of the great things about Forest Park and St. Louis events are that many of them are FREE, yes FREE! The Muny is an outdoor theatre at Forest Park that shows about 6 different musicals throughout the Summer. This summer they have Tarzan, The Addams Family, Seussical, etc. The free seats for the Muny are at the top of the theatre and farther away from the stage, but they're free. You can also buy tickets for great seats up close. We had tickets right in the front section for Tarzan. The theatrical effects, costumes, dancing and singing were all amazing. The performers were amazing. I thought it was a great musical rendition of Tarzan. Check out more information about the Muny and other musicals on their website, link above. Seeing a musical at the Muny is definitely one of the many fun summer events to partake in St. Louis.
